Heterotropic bacteria....?

what is it?! i need to know for a science progect, and i am having problems looking it up.

Heterotropic bacteria....?
Most bacteria are heterotrophic, meaning they require complex organic matter, as opposed to autotrophic bacteria, which can synthesize their own food.
Reply:Heterotrophic bacteria are found everywhere. They are characterized by the fact that they do not photosynthesis and they consume autotrophic bacteria by means of endocytosis. This i am pretty sure of, but there are a lot of great places you can go to for the answers such as berkely college online
