If bacteria took million years to form amoeba then how many years took to form complete life on the earth?

It took a long time to get from prokaryotes to eukaryotes, then a fir while to get to multicellular life. However, once you get to about 600 million years ago, an event called the Cambrian explosion occurred, and withing about 50 million years, the ancestors of all forms of modern animals were in existence ( at the Phylum level of course).

Read Stephen J Gould's book "Wonderful life" for the full story. He is a much better writer than I am.
