How bacteria grow both in presence and absence of oxygen ?

Aerobic bacteria uses O2 like all the other cells, in resparation, aka. break down of glucose. Anaerobic bacteria, cannot stand oxygen, because it is like a poison to them, they can get all of their energy from chemicals, such as sulphuric acid, from underwater volcano vents
