Is bacteria dead or alive?

Do you know any links with an article that proves your answer?

(If not then just answer the question. Thank you!)

Is bacteria dead or alive?
It is alive.

Reasons:

It can reproduce, it eats, does not need a host to live (like virus which is dead), and it reacts to the enviroment. It has multiple functions and organelles in cells if it is a single or multi.

Also, alot of the answers you got are wrong. They are confused from avirus and a bacteria. It does not depend or it is not under debate.

Those guys are thinking of a virus.
Reply:Depends
Reply:Are you serious? Wow.........alive, by the way.
Reply:Bacteria is alive.

They are microorganisms.
Reply:Well i would imagine it is alive.if it can eat away at things and spread i hardly believe its dead
Reply:there is great dispute among scientists whether or not it is alive. think about the 8 charachteristics, and answer the question yourself.
Reply:that depends on whether the colony is dead (not growing)
Reply:Alive. Responds to stimuli, and reproduces. Certainly alive.
Reply:it can be either, just like humans are dead or alive
Reply:Bacterium are alive...the ones they use in vaccines are usually weakened or dead though

...proof? Hit up wikipedia.com
Reply:Very much alive. Bacteria is single-celled organism.
Reply:Bacteria are alive. The reason is that they fulfil the 7 requirements of life. MRSGREN. Movemement (well some do), respriation, senstivity, growth, reproduction, excretion and nutrition.....yes to all these. Therefore we consider them alive (unlike viruses!!).
Reply:bacterium is alive, even though they'r so tiny you need a micro-scope to see them, they're there.
