What does bacteria take in from the enviroment?

I agree. They pretty much all need water, but they can take up many different substances. In some circles, it is believed that for every substance in the world, there is a microorganism that can break it down. Things like nitrogen, different carbon sources and a polethora of other things are commonly taken up by bacteria.

What does bacteria take in from the enviroment?
Bacteria is plural. 1 bacterium, 2 bacteria.

Anyway, the only thing that all bacteria take in from the environment is water.

Aside from that bacteria take in all sorts of things from the environment. It really does depend on whch species of bacterium you are discussing and what it is doing.
