How do bacteria grow on cosmetics?

you use your hands, you dip the sticks and touch your eyes, your lips....

bacteria are transferred from surface to surface.

the worst thing you can do is share your makeup with your friends.

How do bacteria grow on cosmetics?
bacteria grows on pretty much everything, you always have bacteria on you hands
Reply:I DUNNO, THEY SAY IT IS ONLY GOOD FOR 6 MONTHS AFTER OPENING IT! SCARY HUH!!! MAYBE IT IS YOUR SKIN AND MUCUS TOUCHING IT THAT CAUSES HARMFUL BACTERIA TO GROW! THINK ABOUT TEMPERATURE CHANGES TOO... EVER LEFT YOUR MAKE-UP IN A HOT CAR!!! OUCH...
Reply:The bacteria comes from your skin and eyes. The makeup provides a nice environment with plenty of food for them to thrive on.
Reply:It comes from the air and it comes from your fingers, as well as what was already in the container when you bought it. Here's how to keep it to a minimum:

-Don't put your fingers in the cosmetic, but use a brush, cotton pad, sponge etc to apply instead.

-Keep the cosmetic in a cool, dry place.

-Don't let any water get into the cosmetic. This is especially important for dry cosmetics such as eye shadow or bath salts, because they may not have the preservatives necessary to protect the product in a wet environment.

-Look for an expiration date on the product. If you can't find one, just don't put any wet cosmetics on your skin that were bought more than a year ago.
Reply:Cosmetics are actually a leading carrier of bacteria, even though most people don't realize it.

If you apply face makeup (ie. liquid foundation) with your hands, you always will want to wash your hands first. Germs and other bacteria that are always on your hands can spread into your pores, causing them to clog more quickly.

Eye makeup is even bacteria-catching, especially mascara and eyeliner. If you are really concerned with getting bacteria spread to your eyes, clean your mascara applier after each use. Melting you eye liner a few seconds before using it also slightly kills away any bacteria.
Reply:Bacteria can grow on cosmetics if you use ditry sponges/brushed etc. To prevent this, you sould wash your makeup brushes after every use. As for the sponges, you can wash them weekly. Also, if you're applying makeup with your fingers, make sure they are clean. :-)
Reply:You have bacteria on your face, so when you apply makeup, you transfer it from there.
